This CPD session is for RE and Art teachers (specialists and non-specialists) who would like to bring art into their curriculum to enrich students’ engagement with religions and worldviews.
Our 90-minute online session is devised by experts in museum learning, RE and sacred art, and includes:

An introduction to the Wallace Collection

Art history approaches and their relevance for studying religions and worldviews

Religious and non-religious themes
-
Interdisciplinary perspectives, including: theology, philosophy, geopolitics, citizenship, art, history

Case studies of two sacred objects

Experiential learning approaches to art

The role of questions and discussion

An introduction to digital resources and museum workshops

A practical experience of our Islamic Patterns workshop
About the speakers: Alexis Stones is Subject Lead for PGCE Religious Education at UCL’s Institute of Education, and has extensive experience in museum learning. Shaheen Kasmani is an artist, educator and curator.
