Donations: Conserving Interior of Antwerp Cathedral
This spring we are asking for your support to conserve Pieter Neeffs the Elder's magnificent painting, Interior of Antwerp Cathedral.
The view shows the interior of the Cathedral of Our Lady in Antwerp, an imposing house of worship built in the Gothic style where the great master Sir Anthony van Dyck was christened in 1599. A thick layer of yellow varnish clouds the surface of the picture and small pigment losses diminish its appearance. The Wallace Collection have secured a £5,000 match-giving promise to clean the painting if we can raise the funds by June. Please help us to restore this wonderful piece.
Thank you for your support.
