Perspectives on Empire: CPD for Secondary Teachers

Explore strategies to introduce historical objects to your students through close looking, object handling and discussion. This CPD session is for History teachers who would like to explore museum collections as a tool to enrich student engagement.
Enjoy a glass of wine and light refreshments, then join educators Rav Singh and Sam Roddam, along with the Wallace Collection Learning team, for a taster session of our Perspectives on Empire session. The evening will include:
- Close looking at objects from three different empires, with discussion on their connection to Britain’s imperial past
- A taster activity with source analysis
- Object handling to support learning and curriculum links
- An opportunity to deepen your understanding of the power of museum objects to promote discussion and critical thinking
- Networking with other teachers and museum professionals
About the speakers: Rav Singh is a museum educator and founder of ‘A Little History of the Sikhs’. Sam Roddam is a museum educator and a former secondary school History teacher.
